Jonathan Zimmerman teaches education and history at the University of Pennsylvania. A former Peace Corps volunteer and high school teacher, Zimmerman is the co-author (with cartoonist Signe Wilkinson) of Free Speech and Why You Should Give a Damn.
He has also written books about sex education, history instruction in schools, and "The Little Red Schoolhouse" in American memory. Zimmerman is a frequent oped contributor to the Washington Post, the Philadelphia Inquirer, and other popular newspapers and magazines.
He lives in Philadelphia with his wife, Susan Coffin, an infectious disease specialist at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
